I loved with an innocent heart,
Pure and gentle from the start.
I gave my time, my trust, my care,
Believing your love was always there.
I listened to every pain you shared,
While my own wounds went unrepaired.
I carried your storms, I dried your tears,
And silenced my fears throughout the years.
I trusted every word you said,
Built my dreams on hopes you fed.
Never knowing the love I gave
Would leave my heart so lost and brave.
You played with feelings soft and true,
While I saw only the best in you.
I was a fool, not because I loved,
But because I believed every promise spoken of.
Yet time revealed what I couldn’t see,
The value that still lives in me.
The heart you broke did not stay weak,
It found the strength it used to seek.
Now I stand with my head held high,
No longer asking myself why……
For though you left scars that remain,
They taught me lessons through the pain.
My innocent heart still beats the same,
But wisdom now walks beside its flame.
And I am grateful I understood my worth,
Before I lost myself for love on this earth.
