Only My Diary Knows Me
Being an introvert is harder than people think. They assume I am quiet because I have nothing to say, but the truth is, I have a thousand thoughts fighting inside my mind every single day. Finding the courage to turn those thoughts into words feels like climbing a mountain.
At twenty, everyone expects you to be outgoing, confident, and surrounded by friends. They ask why I don’t talk more, why I don’t join every conversation, why I always smile instead of explaining what I feel. If only they knew how many sentences I rehearse in my head but never speak.
The only place where I never feel judged is the blank pages of my diary. It knows every dream I never shared, every tear I wiped away before anyone noticed, every fear hidden behind my calm face. My diary has heard my loudest voice the one the world has never met.
Sometimes I wish people understood that silence does not mean emptiness. Some of us feel deeply, love quietly, and fight battles no one can see. We don’t always need attention; sometimes we just need patience and someone willing to listen without forcing us to become someone we’re not.
There are days when speaking even one sentence feels exhausting, but I remind myself that my quiet nature is not a weakness. It is simply another way of existing in a world that celebrates loud voices.
Maybe my story isn’t spoken in crowded rooms. Maybe it’s written in late-night journal entries, in silent acts of kindness, and in dreams I continue to chase. One day, I will find my voice not because I changed who I am, but because I finally realized that even the softest voices deserve to be heard.
Until then, only my diary truly knows me, and for now, that is enough.
